Documentation :: DynDNS
Description
Most providers, when providing Internet access using PPTP or PPPoE technologies, provide the client with a dynamic ip-address, which changes with each connection. In order to provide access to the server from the Internet when using a dynamic ip, typically use dynamic DNS services: dyndns.org, no-ip.com or the like.
For example, when using the DynDNS service, IKS, using a special client program, periodically informs the dyndns server located on the Internet its current ip address, and the server creates and periodically updates the DNS address for this address in the dyndns.org domain. Thus, without knowing the current ip-address of the server, we can always access it by the domain name.
Customization
To use the DynDNS function, you must register an account on the site. http://dyndns.org or http://no-ip.com and reserve your own domain name in one of the proposed domains.
After registering on the site, it is necessary to select a provider in the Providers and Networks module whose ip address will be dynamically changed (click on the provider name or the Details button), and in the DynDNS tab specify the type of service, login \ password and host name used which will be mapped to ip-address.
After the settings, you need to specify the type of selection of the address to be issued - directly from the IKS network interface or automatic acquisition (in the event that the IKS is located behind NAT).
